A thread to post your DNA results and explain them
These are my 23andMe results
And my AncestryDNA results
My dad is an immigrant from an island in Africa called Mauritius and there's a ring around it on the AncestryDNA map. Most Mauritians are of fully Indian ancestry but my dad belongs to a broad minority called 'Creole' which have a mix of African, Indian, East Asian and European ancestry. On his side of the family, his mum is an old stock Mauritian mix with a mostly French father and an Indian mum. Indian ancestry in Mauritius came from slaves who were taken from different parts of India particularly the Northeast, and my Indo Mauritian ancestry comes from mostly Bihar in the Northeast and Tamil Nadu in the South. I'm not sure which part of France my French ancestry comes from but guessing it's the South. We also had rumours in the family that during British colonial rule a British soldier raped an Indian woman in my more distant family creating one of our ancestors. My dad's dad's dad was from Guangdong in Southern China, he came from a farmer family. My dad's dad's mum was an African lady from Madagascar and probably a coastal tribe
My mum is English born to two immigrant parents, so she's not multigenerationally mixed like my dad is. Her mum was born in Galicia in the Northwest of Spain but one of her parents was Castillan from the North/Centre. My mum's dad was born in New Delhi to what i'm assuming was a Punjabi Muslim family, after the partition of South Asia he moved to Pakistan and a while after that he joined the British navy where he first moved to New Zealand and then settled in the UK and met my grandma. This is my mum's 23andMe, i'm hoping to get my dad tested later this year. My mum's dad claimed Central Asian ancestry and there were supposed to be Eastern Asiatic eyes in some of his family, so the Siberian was cool to see
